Necromunda Ashwastes – Terrain

Having painted the Nomads and Orlocks, the terrain was the last thing I needed to complete in order to finish the boxed set.

I already had a set of the scatter terrain barricade pieces painted up from previous Necromunda releases and so to mix things up with this set, so I combined them with some basing bits from Micro Art Studio and Mantic Deadzone/Sci-Fi terrain.

I always like painting terrain as a palette cleanser – it can be a welcome change of pace after as you can be less precise than figure painting. Rattle can layering, sponge weathering and oil paints can do a lot of heavy lifting with terrain painting 😉

  1. Wow! I love it! I do not always like a lot of the very busy, very Grimdark GW 40K stuff but I do like this set. Both the Ash Nomads and their buildings look great to me and your painting really brings the sculpts to life! 👏🏻

The Ashwastes terrain is very utilitarian looking so much less busy (no skulls!). I like it a lot and it is easier to see it being used in other less grimdark sci-fi settings. Would’t look out of place in Star Wars or Firefly settings.
